In the book "Aircraft maintenance and repair' by Frank Delp, Ralph Bent and James McKinley, from 1987, I came across a (supposedly) standard Federal Aviation Administration font. It looks a lot like US Air Force standard font from Tech Order 1-1-4, including a 6x4 grid, but there are many differences. I know very few examples of civil aircraft using this font, but suddenly understood why some BD-5s had a font that looked like the USAF font, but wasn't. |
I made a scan of page 140, and extracted the Tech Order page from a PDF, for comparison.
