Silent Running drone kits

For years I looked for a good model of the Silent Running robots. Previously I had bought a set of recasts of the Planet-X models, but they were so badly cast that I didn't dare to start construction. Now that I've built Drone #1 Dewey, after 16 years of gathering courage, my search is over. I decided to publish the overview that I compiled over the years. It's all a bit rough, but it's functional. There are two sections: one for resin cast models and one for 3D printed models. Most of the former are out of production. The models are listed in the order of finding information on them.

Resin cast models

Planet-X (USA)

Scale: 70-80 mm tall (with legs) by 80 mm wide, making it approximately 1/16 scale ??
Availability: Ebay rarely
Remarks: Dewey is cast in coral (a color between orange and red), Huey in pink, and Louie in ivory resin.

Each comes with unique display base.

Sold separately.

"Original sculpture by Andy Dunn".

"Silent Running drone #1 Dewey. Made around 2001/2003. Dewey includes 15 resin parts. Dewey is 2 1/4 inches tall and 3 inches wide. Also included is a base which represents a section of the Valley Forge that is 4 1/4 inches wide by 5 inches long. Scale is unknown. You will need some metal tubing to add some minor detail which is not included with the kit."

A 2022 Ebay auction shows Huey in pink resin, but a display base cast in orange, legs in pink-ish resin, and a few white metal parts.

Recasts: All three also seen in light tan, in boxes without the Planet-X logo, possibly these were not originals?

Recast: Also sold as recasts in one set, in all-white resin, full of air bubbles.

Comet Miniatures 1998 catalog lists "Planet-X (NEW) HUEY 1:10 3" TALL GRP 29.50 pounds"
