When the Iron Curtain came down in 1989, very quickly aviation enthousiasts (aircraft spotters) from the Netherlands went to East Germany to find out what had been hiding there. It turned out that two highly interesting air forces were operating an enormous number of aircraft. The East German Air Force was quickly disbanded, but the Russian Air Force would continue to operate for another four years on German soil. The race to see all these goodies before they were gone was started. I also participated in this, and I have very good memories from this period. For this reason I've created these pages about the Russian Air Force in East Germany. If you have comments or questions, mail me: Rob de Bie
